Our very own La'more Creative wedding
It’s pretty crazy to plan your own wedding when you work in the wedding industry. Because you are so immersed in it everyday, you have exposure to so many venues, you have access to so much inspiration. None of these things bad at all! I feel relaxed and excited to plan our big day!
First we choose our venue, our main objectives for our wedding day were;
1. Needed to have the ceremony and reception in 1 location, preferably outside
2. Needed to have a breath-taking view, preferably water
3. Needed to have a relaxing, down to earth feel
....and after only 3 venue visits, we booked The Fig Tree, Byron Bay. After only seeing it for a few minutes we instantly knew, that was the place we were going to get married. We booked straight away as we wanted to be married within the year. The count down was on!
We decided to have a small intimate wedding, of only close family and friends to share our special day, so we booked with ‘Elope’ which specialises in small weddings. They look after weddings up to 40 people so this suited us perfectly. They were amazing to dealt with and made the whole planning experience very easy and stress free.
Within a few small months we had booked everything from our photographer to our cake. It was so easy through Elope as they had a list of recommended wedding suppliers to choose from.
I had been following Rabbit and the Bear for a while on Instagram and knew they had to shoot our special day. They are a wonderful 2 person team, who create amazing, more dark and moody wedding videos, so when I found out they were a recommended supplier I booked them immediately. And this was one of the best things I did. Our video and photos are absolutely amazing and I wouldn’t change one of them. Highly recommend for any brides unsure on videographers.
Of course as a designer I had to make my own wedding moodboard to help show Emily from Elope the style I had envisioned for my big day. Here is what it looked like:
The above was used to show my cake maker, my florist and Elope the look I wanted to achieve, and I’m so glad I did as it meant everyone knew exactly what to do and I knew exactly what I was going to get. This also made quoting a lot simpler.
Because of this, I know offer a Wedding Moodboard service so I can continue to help other brides and groom for there wedding day. Find out more here.
I choose simple white flowers and greenery, I knew I wanted petals to be thrown at the ceremony as well as a messy, organic arrangement for my flowers.
Now for the most exciting part!!! The Dress
My dress is from a very talented Australian designer called Erin Clare. I went only once to try on dresses with my sisters, I went to White Lily Couture in Brisbane City and within an hour I had ordered my wedding dress. As soon as I put it on I felt relaxed, comfortable and just like me. Done! I still love it so much!
Of course we can’t forget the invitations. My invitations were design by myself and printed on handmade paper, I tied a organza ribbon in a bow for texture and had beautiful nude linen envelopes with printed addresses:
Our wedding was something special, we loved every minute, our suppliers and venues were amazing and I wouldn’t have changed 1 thing. I wish all my brides and grooms to have such a relaxing, stress free day with everyone nearest and dearest.
